Monday, 29 September is Blue Ribbon Day, which is a day for all Australians to pause and remember the members of our police force who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our community, Member for Isaacs Mark Dreyfus said today.

“157 Police Officers have died in the line of duty in Victoria,” Mr Dreyfus said.

“Blue Ribbon Day is an opportunity to remember their sacrifice and give thanks for the work of all police officers in making Victoria a safer place.”

Badges, ribbons and other merchandise for Blue Ribbon Day can be purchased at police stations, 7-Eleven stores, Bank of Melbourne branches and online at www.remember.org.au, with all proceeds going to help the Blue Ribbon Foundation run community projects throughout Victoria.

Mr Dreyfus will join other members of the Australian Parliament in wearing a blue ribbon on 29 September.

“I encourage all residents to buy a blue ribbon or a Blue Ribbon Foundation badge on 29 September to show their gratitude to our police service and their families,” Mr Dreyfus said.
